The Thing We Fought For is a split release from Washington, DC’s LMB Records and Hagerstown, MD’s Estavelle Records. The first side contains a new improvised work for large acoustic ensemble and is available here for download and purchase:
The tape available through LMB and Abe Mamet also features a cover variant including oil-painted monotype j-cards designed and printed by Leigh Sabisch in Charleston, South Carolina.
This side captures the tail end of a month of the musicians playing, living, and exploring together in rural Italy while on a residency there in March 2023.
The Estavelle side is a reimagined meditation on this improvised work focusing on the movement and manipulation of electrons, assembled by our in-house sound artist, Seventh Shadow of the Sun. The cassette available here includes an artwork variant with an original digital design.
